The Silence Between Us is a patchwork of bedsheets, photographs, and letters that explores the idea of home, memory, and intergenerational trauma. Stitching together each piece is a connective process that tests separation from the past and examines the world in matrilineal terms. The use of the cyanotype process points to the transient nature of memory and ways light and water can simultaneously reveal and conceal photographic evidence. Each piece is sewn by hand and symbolically uses the mending of the cloth to carve a new path towards remembering and healing.
